Help Us Fight Cancer, by Joining Us In Support Of The Big C

This year Simply Sing are putting our voices behind the fight for cancer, and supporting The Big C Norfolk's Cancer Charity.

The Big C, work to support both local cancer sufferers and their families, as well as supporting vital research, which aims to help and maybe one cure people around the world.

This year is their 35th anniversary and they have asked us to join with 34 other choirs around the county to hold one in a series of concerts to raise vital funds for their work.

We are planning our biggest ever Christmas Concert, and we would love to have as many people as possible from the community join us in song for such a wonderful local charity.

Our new term starts on the 8th September, and new members are very welcome to join us any time.

Chris Rowbury Workshop - Change of Venue

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to change the venue for our Harmony Singing day on Saturday 30th April, 10.30 - 4.30.

The workshop will now be held at St John the Evangelist Church, Blackfriars Road, King's Lynn, PE12 1NT.

Other than the change of venue, everything else will be running as planned.

Now you hear us...

We were all thrilled with the success of our Autumn concert, the culmination of a year of hard work for the choir, so while we squirrel ourselves away and work on a new repertoire for the summer, here are a few of our greatest hits from that performance. With thanks to David Oxtoby for the recordings.

Harmony Singing Workshop

Simply Sing is hosting a harmony singing workshop by the wonderful Chris Rowbury.

The workshop is being held on Saturday 30th April 2016 at London Road Methodist Church, King's Lynn, PE30 5PY.  10.30am-4.30pm.

All of the music will be taught by ear, so there is no need read music.

Come along to an informal day of harmonies, humour and hijinks.

Carols in the Community

This Christmas, we were very happy to assist Freebridge Housing with their Christmas celebrations, performing at the lighting of their Christmas tree, and the beginning of their festivities.

They had a professional photographer on hand and were kind enough to send us the lovely pictures below.

As the performance was on a Friday afternoon, there was a slightly reduced choir in attendance, but the membership was bolstered by the addition of Ru and Eze, two of Christina's dogs, who joined as unofficial mascots for the event!

A Grand Night Out for UNICEF

The arrival of November 28th was nervously anticipated by the members of Simply Sing, as our Autumn Concert was upon us and a years worth of work and rehearsal was about to be put on display.

We were delighted to welcome our audience and happily rose to the challenge of a polished performance (despite some technical issues with microphones!)

The programme was varied, featuring some choir favourites, such as Annie's Song, Happy Together and our one classical piece of the evening, Be Still My Soul.

Several soloists performed and the choir was thrilled with the performance overall and it was lovely to hear from audience members who had been to previous concerts, all of whom commented on how well the choir was progressing.

The choir had decided to take the opportunity to collect for the UNICEF Syrian Children's Emergency Fund, and were thrilled to have raised £429.50 on the evening, thanks to generous donations from the audience, and a very popular raffle, which itself raised over £100.

Subsequently donations increased the total to £500, and as the British Government match donations to the UNICEF fund, a total of £1000 will be donated, and go towards aiding children fleeing war in Syria and living in hardship in refugee camps.

Autumn Concert

After a season of hard work, Simply Sing are more exited than ever to announce our Autumn Concert on the 28th November 2015, 7pm.

What better way to brighten up a cold, dark, night than to enjoy some fantastic music, ranging from classic pop to classical with a little gospel and swing thrown in.

We look forward to welcoming you at:

Holy Family Church, Field Lane, Gaywood, King's Lynn, NorfolkPE30 4AX.

The concert is free, but there will be opportunities to donate to UNICEF's Syrian Children's Emergency Fund; which is battling to help some of the millions of children displaced by the Syrian conflict survive yet another harsh winter.  Click here to find out more about the work of UNICEF.
